Itinerary Day 01 : Arrive Bagdogra airport. Drive to Darjeeling . O/N hotel. (7000ft; 4hrs) Day 02 : Drive to Pelling. Visit Pemayangste, the second oldest monestry in Sikkim. Wonderful views of the Kanchenjunga range. O/N hotel. (6840ft; the usual route takes 4hrs but in case of a road block the the alternate route will take 7hrs). Day 03 : Drive to Yoksum (5840ft) O/N Rest house. (9000ft; 5-6hrs). Complete police and tourism formalities and visit the old Yuksom monastery. Overnight Yuksom. Day 04 : Trek begins. Walk through forest. After lunch, climb steeply for an hour and a half till the rest house at Bakim. Continue ascent through the forest and till Tsokh, a small Tibetan refugee settlement, through a forest of giant rhododendrons to a clearing at Phedong with excellent mountain views to set up camp. O/N camp. (10,300ft; 5-6hrs) . Day 05 : Trek to Deorali Dara – the treeline ends here. The walk though strenous gets a little gradual as we approach the grazing grounds of Dzongri in time for hot lunch. O/N camp. (13,200ft; 3-4hrs). Day 06 : A day of rest and acclimatisation at Dzongri. One can take a walk up to the ridge past fluttering prayer flags for some rewarding views of the Kanchenjunga massif and its secondary peaks or even walk upto the Dzongri pass. O/N camp. Day 07 : Descend on a well defined trail to Thangsing river and continue to campsite at Thansing , at the base of Pandim peak. (12,900ft; 5-6hrs). Day 08 : Easy and gradual walking along mani walls takes us past Onglathang to a small morraine ridge and down to a lovely campsite at Samiti Pokhari. (14,500ft; 4-5hrs). Day 09 : Begin early for a steep climb to the Goecha La (pass) and descend to set up camp by Thangsing river. Day 10 : Continue over the Dzongri hill to set up camp at Tsokha,with a lunch break at Phedang. O/N camp. (5-6hrs). Day 11 : Descend to Yuksom. O/N hotel / camp. (5-6hrs). Day 12: Drive to Darjeeling. Overnight hotel. Day 13: Drive to Bagdogra airport for flight to Delhi.
